  • Incomplete atrioventricular septal defect
  • Partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection

Severe and complex congenital heart diseases that require immediate treatment

  • Tetralogy of Fallot
  • Complete atrioventricular septal defect
  • Coarctation of aorta
  • Interrupted aortic arch
  • Transposition of the great arteries
  • Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection
  • Persistent truncus arteriosus
  • Hypoplastic left heart syndrome
  • Tricuspid atresia
  • Mitral atresia
  • Asplenia (or right isomerism)
  • Polysplenia (or left isomerism)
  • Double-inlet left ventricle
  • Severe aortic valve stenosis in neonates
  • Pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum
  • Ebstein anomaly, Ebstein malformation

Diseases that require specialized treatment

  • Severe aortic valve stenosis in neonates and infants
  • Pulmonary atresia with major aortopulmonary collateral arteries + ventricular septal defect
  • Aortic valve disease in patients willing to undergo the Ross procedure (pulmonary autograft)
  • Corrected transposition of the great arteries in patients willing to undergo the double switch procedure

Functional single-ventricle disease

The Fontan procedure is performed in stages for patients with diseases such as tricuspid atresia, mitral atresia, pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum and hypoplastic right ventricle, single right ventricle, single left ventricle, and hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
