The Department of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery at the NCVC provides surgical treatment to patients with all types of congenital and pediatric heart diseases, ranging from relatively mild congenital diseases to severe and complex ones, including the treatment of adult congenital heart diseases, implantation and management of ventricular assist devices for severe pediatric heart failure, and pediatric heart transplantation.

Patient referrals and pre-treatment consultation

We accept patients with all types of congenital heart diseases and pediatric heart failure referred from other medical institutions. We also accept patients seeking an expert second opinion regarding their current treatment at any time.

Clinical Studies and Research

Following the termination of the investigator-initiated clinical trial of Berlin Heart EXCOR®, the NCVC is currently one of the fifteen medical facilities in Japan that are authorized to use this pediatric extracorporeal ventricular assist device.
