At the Department of Pediatric Cardiology, we make every effort to ensure that pediatricians and cardiologists across Japan can refer their patients to us with a deep sense of trust at all times. We also ensure to maintain an excellent environment for young pediatricians and cardiologists who wish to advance their postgraduate training in pediatric and adult congenital heart diseases. The department is in fact an ideal place for trainees because they can provide care to a large number of patients of all ages, including fetuses, neonates, young children, and adults, and examine firsthand the cases that are rarely treated at other medical institutions in Japan. For such young physicians, we request applications for resident and specialist training each year.

Each of our specialist training courses focuses on a specific type of medical care: pediatric cardiology course for general training in cardiac diseases in children; neonatal intensive care course for training in fetal diagnosis and cardiac intensive care of neonates and infants; and adult congenital heart disease course focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses that newly occur in patients with congenital heart diseases after they reach adulthood.
