About the Department of Diabetes and Lipid Metabolism
In order to live a long and healthy life, it is essential to prevent diseases based on arteriosclerosis of blood vessels (cardiovascular diseases) such as myocardial infarction, stroke, and arteriosclerosis obliterans. For this purpose, it is very important to manage lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity.
The Department of Diabetes and Lipid metabolism provides specialized medical care for these diseases based on the latest medical findings, and focuses on correcting blood glucose levels, lipids, and obesity to prevent the development of atherosclerosis, in cooperation with various professions such as nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, and clinical psychologists, as well as other departments.
In terms of research, we work with other clinical departments, the Department of Preventive Health Checkup, the Research Institute, and the Office of Omics Analysis to understand the pathogenesis of lifestyle-related diseases and to overcome them in order to control cardiovascular diseases.
