Division of Pulmonary Circulation
Overview
Overview of the Division
The Division of Pulmonary Circulation is the only division in Japan that specializes in diseases of the pulmonary circulation. It was formed at the creation of NCVC for the purpose of conquering these diseases. The lung is a special organ involved in gas exchange, which is essential for survival. The pulmonary circulation is a vascular system for blood flow through the lungs. Diseases of the pulmonary circulation treated by this division are thus different from commonly known diseases of the systemic circulation system such as cerebral and cardiac disorders. This division has been the leader in clinical practice and research in this field in Japan.
Medical care for the following four diseases is the mainstay of this division.

Points to note regarding e-mail consultation
Some types of pulmonary hypertension are refractory, have poor prognosis, and affect only a small number of patients. Most are designated as intractable diseases. In the United States and Europe, pulmonary hypertension is intensively treated at one or two specialized facilities in each country. Although the treatment of this disease is not legally limited to certain facilities in Japan, specialized treatment for pulmonary hypertension is actually only offered at several institutions. Information about treatment is currently scarce. Given these difficult circumstances, we provide e-mail consultations for patients with pulmonary hypertension. We would like to answer general questions regarding symptoms and treatments for pulmonary hypertension or advise on whether or not you should see a specialist to the greatest extent possible. Contact us via the e-mail address above if you have any questions or would like to consult with us.
We cannot make diagnoses via e-mail. Therefore, we cannot answer questions regarding your particular treatment in a manner that is regarded as medical practice. For consultation on your treatment, you can ask for a second opinion at the Division of Pulmonary Circulation. If you wish to see a specialist in our division, please e-mail us. We will arrange your first visit at our outpatient clinic.
However, we do not accept the requests for emergency visits. Please note that it may take some time for us to answer e-mails. Recently, we noticed that some of our replies to patients' e-mails requesting consultations were blocked and returned to us. To avoid this, please adjust the settings on your side so that our replies are not blocked. If you do not receive a reply, our e-mail may have been blocked, so please check the settings of your e-mail account.
