Associations Between Adherence to Evidence-Based, Stroke Quality Indicators and Outcomes of Acute Reperfusion Therapy”

The Close The Gap-Stroke program
A Nationwide Quality Improvement Initiative Of The J-ASPECT Study

What is new?

*The CTGS program is the first nationwide quality improvement initiative for stroke patients in Japan.
*The effect of 2015 Endovascular thrombectomy trials on change in trend for adherence to Stroke QIs remains unclear.
*Uncertainty exists about whether QI strategies translate into better patient outcomes.

We demonstrated national marked and sustainable improvement in adherence to key QIs from 2013 to 2017.
Adherence to key QIs lowered the odds of in-hospital mortality and increased the odds of functional independence at discharge, underlining the importance of monitoring the quality of care using evidence-based QIs and the nationwide CTGS program.
