Injectable Hydrogels for Myocardial Infarction Treatment

Mammalian cardiomyocytes have a poor proliferation ability, which leads the difficulty in myocardial regeneration after infarction. We focus on an injectable hydrogel therapy for the treatment of myocardial infarction (Fig. 1) because this therapy requires much shorter period of time to prepare implants (i.e., hydrogels) than cell transplantation therapy. We are engaged in the functionalization of hydrogels through polymer designing and material modification to stimulate myocardial regeneration.
