Employment Details

The NCVC Research Institute is promoting translational research that encompasses an understanding of the pathogenesis of and treatments for cardiovascular diseases. The Department conducts research focused on understanding the pathogenesis of a variety of cardiovascular diseases (including cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, ischemic heart disease, and arrhythmia) as well as cerebrovascular diseases (including stroke and cerebral hemorrhage) using techniques from pharmacology, developmental biology, cellular biology, and molecular biology. Other research focuses include the development of molecularly targeted therapies and the investigation of treatments using model organisms of cardiovascular disease.

Employment Start Date

April 1, 2019
(term of office is five (5) years from start date; renewals are possible based on performance)

Eligibility Criteria (those who meet all the following criteria)

  • Knowledge, experience, and proven track record regarding signal transduction systems in cells of the cardiovascular system
  • Sufficient pharmacology and molecular biology knowledge to design interventional studies targeting the causative molecules of disease
  • Insight required to develop and implement new diagnostic techniques or treatments
  • Collaborative and relationship-building skills to partner with other departments at the Research Institute, Hospital, or the Open Innovation Center
  • Personality fit for a Director of Molecular Pharmacology
  • Leadership and management skills required to direct a team to conduct cutting-edge research
  • PhD or equivalent research experience
