Employment Details

The laboratory chief will be responsible for research performed to elucidate the genetic alterations associated with cardiovascular diseases as well as the molecular mechanisms of their pathogenesis. Although the primary research focus will be on arrhythmias, genetic analysis of other cardiovascular diseases, including cardiomyopathies, will be conducted in collaboration with other research labs at the Omics Research Center. Research results on genotype-phenotype associations using cell cultures and model organisms will feed back into the clinical setting. In addition to genomics research, data from epigenetic and proteomic research will be compared against genomic data. The laboratory chief will be responsible for overseeing graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and research assistants.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must have experience, knowledge, and technical skills associated with the abovementioned research areas and be able to work independently
  2. Must have experience and knowledge regarding the latest genome sequence analysis technologies
  3. Must have experience, knowledge, and technical skills associated with constructing disease model organisms
  4. Must have experience, knowledge, and technical skills associated with analyzing genomic data
  5. Must have experience, knowledge, and technical skills associated with analyzing animal models (such as mice), and using techniques from various fields of study such as cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, histology, and electrophysiology
  6. Must actively seek opportunities to publish research results and apply for external research support grants
  7. Must be able to manage and lead a team collaboratively, as a mid-level manager within the department
  8. Must have a PhD

Salary and benefits

  • Salary: paid in accordance with the regulations of the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center
  • Eligibility for raise: once annually
  • Eligibility for bonus: twice annually (in June and December)
  • Allowances: transportation/commute, lodging, dependent support, etc.
  • Employment terms: five (5)-day work week
  • Vacations: annual paid leave 20 days; special leave allowed for summer holidays, weddings, and before/after birth of a child
  • Severance pay: eligible if departing after six (6) months of employment
  • Other benefits: health, life insurance, labor insurance
