2019 Cardiovascular Specialist In Training - Application Requirements

Objective

The cardiovascular specialist in training is expected to obtain advanced knowledge and skills related to the diagnosis, treatment, and research of cardiovascular diseases.

Training Period

The standard training period is two (2) years.
*However, non-standard training periods (such as a condensed one (1)-year program) can be discussed based on individual need.

Training Start Date: April 1, 2019
Training End Date: March 31, 2021

Courses

Applicants will be expected to choose one (1) of the following courses.

  • Cardiovascular Medicine
  • Cardiovascular Surgery
  • Cerebrovascular Medicine and Neurology
  • Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery
  • Hypertension and Nephrology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Endocrinology and Metabolism
  • Radiology
  • Pediatric Cardiology
  • Preventive Cardiology
  • Adult Congenital Heart Disease
  • Perinatalogy
  • Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care
  • Severe Heart Failure and Heart Transplantation
  • Cardiovascular Rehabilitation

Open Positions

Approximately 10 positions, including residents.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Completed (or is expecting to complete) the three (3)-year residency program at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center, or an equivalent program
  • Has (or is expecting to have) at least five (5) years of clinical experience

Screening Method

Applicants will be screened based on submitted documents as well as an interview.

Screening Results

Successful applicants will be notified in late January 2019.

Employment Details

The applicant will work alongside a supervising physician, as per the Cardiovascular Specialist in Training Program Regulations.
(includes on-call duties on weekdays, weekends, and statutory holidays)

Five (5) days per week; 31 working hours per week
Example)
Monday - Thursday 9:00 - 15:45, with 45-minute break (six [6] working hours/day)
Friday 9:00 - 17:00, with 60-minute break (seven [7] working hours/day)

2. Salary

400,000 yen monthly (tax included; other benefits may be paid separately)

Social insurance, employment insurance

4. Completion

A certificate of completion will be issued at the end of the training period

Applicants may also work towards a degree while working as a resident or physician in training.
