Adult Cardiac Surgery

In the Division of Adult Cardiac Surgery, we deal with cases of ischemic heart diseases, valvular heart diseases, arrhythmia, and chronic heart failure. We perform a total of approximately 900 operations each year, including 436 cases of open heart surgery.
Notably, we have experienced more than 1,200 cases of off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery (OPCAB), which was introduced in 1998 and is now a basic surgical procedure, with good outcome. For emergency treatment, we stand ready for surgery around the clock in cooperation with the ICU and CCU.
We operate aggressively even on the most serious cases. Our therapeutic aim is not merely to keep patients alive. We give top priority to the improvement of patients' quality of life (QOL).
