Outline of the Division

Arrhythmia refers to the deviation of the pulse from normality. This includes abnormally high pulse rate (tachycardia) as well as abnormally slow pulse rate (bradycardia). Sudden occurrence of abnormal pulse rate not only causes palpitation and chest discomfort but also sometimes gives rise to dangerous arrhythmia that can be life-threatening.
Nine arrhythmia specialists, who form the core of this division, lead teams that provide treatment and cooperate with other divisions of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine or other departments. We aim at providing diagnosis and treatment in the field of arrhythmia, working not simply at Japan's but also at the world's highest level.
